图书简介
Qualitative research is a type of scientific research which has its roots in philosophy and human sciences. Qualitative research methods have become increasingly important as ways of developing nursing knowledge for evidence-based nursing practice. Qualitative research answers a wide variety of questions related to nursing’s concern with human responses to actual or potential health problems Qualitative research is used to gain insight into people’s attitudes, behaviours, value systems, concerns, motivations, aspirations, culture or lifestyles. Researchers use this method to gather an in-depth understanding of human behaviour and the reasons that govern such behaviour. Qualitative approaches are necessary in healthcare when researchers want to ask questions about why patients and healthcare professionals behave in a particular way and to focus on participants? feelings, meanings and experiences. Undergraduate nursing students are required to develop and write up a research proposal in the final year of their course. They develop a research question and then select whether a quantitative or qualitative approach is needed. Therefore, at undergraduate level, a research textbook that includes both quantitative and qualitative is more appropriate to their needs for the duration of their degree programme.
