图书简介
A Course in Luminescence Measurements and Analyses for Radiation Dosimetry includes all three of the primarily important techniques, Thermoluminescence (TL), Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) and Radiophotoluminescence (RPL), and the connections between them. It will treat luminescence techniques for radiation dosimetry holistically, beginning with the basic concepts of thermodynamics and showing how the three techniques, are related within the confines of energy storage, charge transfer processes and defect reactions. Another unique feature of the proposed book will be its emphasis on pedagogy rather than the latest research. State-of-the-art research will be included only when it is relevant to demonstrate a particular principle or opens new insight into physical mechanisms. The primary purpose of the book is to teach beginning researchers in the field about the three techniques, their similarities and distinctions, and their applications. To emphasize the book as a teaching tool, several substantial problems will be introduced at various points in the book for the reader to test their understanding of the subject matter being discussed. These will include derivations of important relationships; numerical simulations; solutions to differential equations in order to demonstrate kinetic processes; and analysis of real experimental data. In this regard, the book will have a companion website where the reader will find original data sets (TL, OSL, RPL) that may be used to test their data analysis skills in conjunction with their learning from the book. New data and new problems will be introduced via the web site so that the book will be updated and refreshed in the future, serving as a living teaching tool.
