This book is aimed to those who have been working on circulating tumor cells (CTCs), those who are entering the field, and those who just want to learn about the field.  Readers will benefit from the introduction to CTCs, historical perspectives, as well as microfluidic technology overview offered in the Part I chapters.  Part II consists of a variety of CTC isolation methods, ranging from the macro- to micro-scale, from positive concentration to negative depletion, and from biological-property-enabled to physical-property-based approaches. Part III covers post-isolation analysis, including single cell analysis, regulatory policy, clinical translation, and tumor heterogeneity.  Part IV focuses on two commercial platforms, CellSearch (the only FDA-approved CTC platform) and DEPArrayTM (that can identify, quantify, and recover individual CTCs).  Part V is glossary of scientific terms related to the field.All of these chapters are written by pioneers and experts who have developed remarkable techniques and made considerable contributions to the field.  They include Professor Jonathan Uhr, whose pioneering research with his colleagues on CTCs in 1990s led to the birth of CellSearch, Professor Stefanie Jeffrey who invented the MagSweeper, and other authority figures in the field.
