图书简介
Research on the durability processes of concrete materials under environmental actions has lasted for more than a half a century. However, not all related mechanisms are explained in concrete materials science and the core problem remains: how to implement the acquired knowledge from materials research into structural design. This is especially important for developing countries undergoing large scale infrastructure construction, for which optimal structural design can most efficiently guarantee the service life of structures. Meanwhile, the structural design concepts are also in evolution from a loading cases oriented method to a life-cycle oriented one. For this transition, using knowledge from concrete materials science and predicting the performance degradation of structural materials are of utmost importance. This book starts from this technical background and is motivated by the needs of the structural engineering community. It provides up-to-date details on the durability design of concrete structures, addressing the mechanisms leading to the deterioration of concrete structures, modelling of the mechanisms and the approaches to durability design. It concludes with applications and practical references to design codes.
